Rest, Reflection, and Community — The Heart of Our Week

Shabbat is the soul of our community life. Every week, we gather to set aside the noise of everyday life, join in uplifting song, reflect on ancient wisdom, and reconnect with family and friends. Whether you prefer the warm, musical close of a Friday evening or the contemplative depth of a Saturday morning Torah reading, there is a place for you in our sanctuary.

Erev Shabbat (Friday Evening)

We welcome Shabbat on Friday evenings with musical, soul-restoring Kabbalat Shabbat services.

  • The Experience: A warm blend of traditional Hebrew liturgy, accessible English readings, and inspiring congregational singing accompanied by acoustic music.
  • Social & Community: Services are followed by a communal Kiddush (challah and wine/juice), offering a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends or meet new members.
  • Hybrid Access: Offered both in-person and broadcast live online for those who wish to join from home.

Shabbat Morning (Saturday)

Our Saturday morning services bring our congregation together for prayer, Torah study, and shared celebrations.

  • Torah & Teaching: We read from the weekly Torah portion, accompanied by thoughtful commentary from our rabbis that connects ancient texts with contemporary life.
  • Egalitarian & Participatory: Members of all genders participate equally—leading prayers, reading Torah, and receiving honors (aliyot).
  • Lifecycle Celebrations: Saturday mornings are frequently filled with extra joy as we celebrate B'Mitzvah milestones, baby namings, and anniversary blessings.

Families & Early Years Shabbat

We believe children shouldn't just be tolerated in services—they should be active participants in Jewish life.

  • Tot Shabbat / Early Years: Interactive, song-filled services tailored for young children (ages 0–5) and their parents or grandparents, filled with instruments, stories, and movement.
  • Family Services: Specially adapted, multi-generational Shabbat morning services throughout the term that engage young learners alongside their families.

What to Expect (First-Time Visitors)

  • Prayerbooks: We use modern Progressive prayerbooks (Siddurim) featuring full Hebrew text, clear English translations, and complete phonetic transliterations so everyone can follow along.
  • Ritual Wear: Kippot (head coverings) and Tallitot (prayer shawls) are provided at the entrance and are optional for all attendees, regardless of gender.
  • Dress Code: Smart-casual attire is typical. Come as you are—you will find a warm, friendly welcome.
