Our rabbinic team and community provide warm, egalitarian, and personal guidance for every lifecycle transition, rooting your milestones in Jewish tradition while honoring your family’s unique identity.

Welcoming New Life (Brit Milah & Simchat Bat)

We celebrate the arrival of new babies with warmth and community blessing.

  • Baby Namings (Simchat Bat / Covenant Ceremonies): Tailored egalitarian ceremonies for daughters and sons, held either during a Saturday morning congregational service or in a private gathering.
  • Brit Milah (Circumcision): Rabbinic support and coordination with trained, licensed Mohels for traditional brit milah ceremonies.
  • Interfaith & Diverse Families: Non-Jewish parents, grandparents, and family members are fully invited to stand on the bima, recite blessings, and participate in welcoming their children.

Coming of Age (B'Mitzvah & Kabbalat Torah)

We guide our young people as they step into Jewish adulthood with confidence and joy.

  • B'Mitzvah: Equal learning, Torah reading, and leading of services for all gender identities at age 13 (or adults choosing to celebrate later in life).
  • Kabbalat Torah: A continuation program for teenagers (ages 15–16) to explore contemporary ethical questions, personal theology, and deep community bonding.

Love & Marriage (Weddings & Blessings)

We celebrate love in all its diversity, crafting personal, sacred ceremonies that reflect your partnership.

  • Egalitarian Weddings: Fully equal ketubah (marriage contract) and ring exchanges under the chuppah.
  • Same-Sex Marriages: HPS joyfully officiates and registers same-sex Jewish weddings.
  • Interfaith Couples: We offer warm rabbinic counseling, blessings, and celebrations for interfaith couples establishing a Jewish home.
  • Anniversaries & Vow Renewals: Custom blessings on the bima for major milestone anniversaries.

Conversion & Affirmation

Choosing Judaism is a meaningful, life-changing journey.

  • Conversion Pathway: Guided, compassionate study and mentorship through our rabbinic team in partnership with the Progressive Beit Din.
  • Affirmation: Individualized support for individuals returning to Jewish life or seeking to affirm their Jewish status.

End of Life & Bereavement (Chesed Shel Emet)

When facing illness, loss, or bereavement, you are supported at every step.

  • Rabbinic Support: Immediate pastoral care, bedside prayers, and guidance through final arrangements.
  • Funerals & Burials: Officiating at burials or cremations, with comprehensive access to our synagogue funeral schemes.
  • Mourning & Remembrance: Support with setting up Shiva prayers at home, stone setting dedication services, and annual Yahrzeit (anniversary of death) commemorations.
