The Tree of Life is a meaningful feature across our community, offering a lasting way to commemorate cherished milestones, honor loved ones, and support the ongoing life of Hertfordshire Progressive Synagogue. Each hand-engraved leaf on our physical tree sculpture represents a story, a family celebration, or a loving memory woven into the permanent fabric of our sanctuary.
Commemorating Life’s Milestones
Dedicating a leaf on the Tree of Life is a wonderful way to mark special occasions across generations:
- Welcoming New Life: Births, consecrations, and baby namings.
- Life Cycle Celebrations: Bar, Bat, or B'Mitzvah milestones, confirmation, and adult B'Mitzvah.
- Marriages & Anniversaries: Weddings, silver, golden, and major wedding anniversaries.
- In Memoriam: Honoring the memory of loved ones who live on in our hearts (Yahrzeit).
- Gratitude & Honors: Thanking an individual, honoring a volunteer, or celebrating a retirement or major personal achievement.
How to Dedicate a Leaf
Each metallic leaf is custom-engraved with your chosen personal message, date, or inscription.
- Select Your Inscription: Choose a short message, name, and date to be permanently etched onto a brass, silver, or gold leaf.
- Submit Your Request: Complete our online dedication form or contact the synagogue office directly to confirm your text and formatting.
- Mounting & Dedication: Once crafted, your leaf is installed on our Tree of Life sculpture, and a certificate of dedication is sent to you or the honored recipient.
Contributions made through Tree of Life dedications go directly toward preserving our sanctuary, maintaining our buildings, and funding vital community activities for future generations.
