Community Support

Guidance and support

If you have health, mental health, family, social or financial problems that you need guidance and support with, please get in touch with us.

You can also find Practical Support and information for Carers.

Volunteer befriending

As a community we also rely on volunteers who can befriend members at a time of need, and many volunteers have found new friends themselves through this experience. A volunteer may visit someone regularly, help with lifts to and from hospital appointments, bring members to synagogue on Shabbat or for other events, or join our team of specially trained volunteers who telephone and visit the bereaved. Volunteering can bring new skills to the community while offering volunteers opportunities to learn and have new experiences.

We aim to…

  • Reach out to the community and involve others in our work.
  • Telephone and visit elderly and housebound members of the community when requested.
  • Provide meals when necessary.
  • Offer lifts to services and synagogue events.
  • Shop or collect prescriptions.
  • Phone, and maybe visit, if you have experienced a recent bereavement.
  • Help to bring the community together and introduce you to fellow members.
  • Listen and simply be there to support you through immediate personal difficulties.
